I officially switched back to powder foundation. After a few months of lying to myself about how it couldn’t possibly be the Clinique foundation making me break out (it’s stress! It’s my new cleanser!) I have come to the conclusion that my skin is just. Too. Sensitive. For liquid foundation. I’m now using MAC’s Studio Fix Powder plus Foundation and my skin is already looking better. I will review this product in about a week or so.
Liquid foundation was a failed experiment.

OMG this is TOO GOOD.
Wonderful makeup blogger “EyeshadowLipstick” has put together a montage of selects from various Dior runway shows over the years, focusing on the makeup. If you are a Dior fan like me, you know how major the makeup is! Makeup war horse, Pat McGrath, has been the key makeup designer for many of these shows. It is just SICK. I wore Clinique’s Stay Matte Foundation for a full 12 hours, which is about how long my longest days last. As far as the foundation’s name goes, it probably should be called “Starts Matte” or maybe just “More Matte than Most”. It did manage to curb A LOT of my T-zone shine, however my nose was shiny after only a few hours. I don’t really mind a nice healthy glow and I was kind of banking on my oily T-zone to balance out the matte-ness because I didn’t want to look like I was wearing a mask but my nose was definitely winning against the foundation.
Overall though I was very impressed. When I first applied it the foundation felt heavy, emphasized dry flaky bits, and looked somewhat cakey, BUT after about 30-45 min on my face I felt like my face could breathe again and it looked nice and smooth.
The color was also a great match for my fair, cool, pink skin, GOOD JOB CLINIQUE SALESWOMAN.
After about 3-4 hours I did need a touch up with some powder for my t-zone before I went out for dinner but that is still pretty good for my face. 3 am was the next time I really inspected it and yes by that time I was good and shiny and my larger blemishes were fighting to be seen BUT THE FOUNDATION HELD ITS OWN. It hadn’t separated, it still looked smooth, and I didn’t feel like my face was as huge a mess as it usually is after 12 hours of wear.
Now, since I’m on break from school/work AND I’m on my crutches, this was not a true test of how well this makeup could keep up with my life. However, I was very impressed with the Stay Matte and I’m definitely considering buying the bottle. I like this foundation better (for longwear) than I like my current loose mineral powder. The mineral powder is great too but it just doesn’t have the lasting power of the Stay Matte.
Keep in mind, I only tried this for one day. I will likely update this after I have had a chance to test it further.
